U.S. says it was the Afghans who ordered the airstrike

The airstrike that killed 22 people in a northern Afghanistan clinic was requested by Afghan forces, the Pentagon is now saying. According to our report, Afghan forces were under attack by the Taliban fighters and the Afghans called in the airstrike, proving that not all Muslim extremists are suicidal but all are engaged in jihad.

General John Campbell, in order to correct the record, told reporters in a press conference that "The Afghans advised that they were taking fire. Ab airstrike was then called to eliminate the Taliban threat [read: kill or maim] and several civilians were accidentally struck [read: blown to smithereens]. This is different from the initial reports, which indicated that U.S. forces were threatened and that the airstrike was called on their behalf."

Unfortunately, Campbell's account doesn't specify whether the clinic was actually targeted in error or if other mistakes were made by U.S. forces.

"If errors were committed, we will acknowledge them," Campbell said.

Military sources reported to Fox News that there were Taliban fighters firing from inside the hospital.

Twenty-two people were killed, including nine local staffers for Doctors Without Borders. In addition, thirty people were missing after an explosion nearby in the Afghan city of Kunduz.

The purpose of the airstrikes were to kill Taliban insurgents who had overrun Kunduz and Campbell confirmed that it was an USAF C-130 gunship that was involved in the carnage.

Obama has threatened to take away all of our military aircraft with his pen and phone if this "routine killing" continues. He said that "We are not at war with Islam. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families, both coalition forces and Taleeebahn, for this unfortunate incident."

The administration plans to hold all those responsible for this tragedy in the lowest regard, and warned that harsh tweets may follow.
