They fought a bloody three-day war, and when it was over the Al Qaeda – affiliated jihadists raised their flag over government buildings of Fallujah, Iraq. If you recall, Fallujah had been secured by the US who withdrew from the country two years later.
Eight people were killed, dozens injured while the Iraqi army tried to regain control of the city. Tribesmen from Ramadi, a Sunni stronghold, joined forces with the Army. The death toll from the fighting, which began earlier in the week, is still unknown.
The city of Ramadi, another Sunni stronghold, was also overrun.
These guys don't run 'cause they can't |
So much for Al Qaeda being “on the run.”
Billions of dollars have been spent, thousands of American lives have been lost, and we have nothing whatsoever to show for our blood and treasure. What is clear from this is that the Obama administration is incompetent or simply does not care about the sacrifices Americans made to assist Iraq against the Muslim surge. He pulled out prematurely and set the stage for al Qaeda, again. Maybe he read somewhere in the Times, that our troops should be withdrawn, but he screwed it up.
And on another note, three times as many American troops have been killed in Afghanistan under the Obama administration than George W. Bush. Rules of engagement should only apply to impending marriages, not war.

My latest novel, Jihad
Joe, is about Islamic
terrorism and suspense. In it I challenge the precepts of the religion
through my protagonist, Zed Nill, a journalist, captured by terrorists and who
is destined to be killed if the American President refuses to release three
Gitmo prisoners. Of course, American policy demands we never give in to
terrorists, and for Zed, the clock is ticking.
