GLAAD states on their website that they work "with print, broadcast and online news sources to bring people powerful stories from the LGBT community that build support for equality. And when news outlets get it wrong, GLAAD is there to respond and advocate for fairness and accuracy." From this, we can surmise that Robertson's interpretation of the Bible and his beliefs are a misunderstanding of God's word, is incorrect, according to GLAAD. Being gay is okay according to the Bible and GLAAD. Therefore, in order to provide "fairness and accuracy," GLAAD has pressured A&E to fire him. Makes perfect nonsense.
GLAAD enjoys its relationship with the media. Many gays, lesbians, and transgender people work in the media. Many who don't, wish they did, I suspect. The GLAAD website states:
"GLAAD brings LGBT characters and plotlines to movie theaters, television sets and even comic books -- working with writers, producers and studios to ensure accurate and diverse representations of LGBT people on the big and small screens." This is a direct cut and paste from the site, so please excuse any grammatical or spelling errors your Spell-check may show.
So now you can't even write your own movie plot without a gay man, lesbian, or someone who didn't feel right as the gender they were born with, telling you how to manipulate the plot to tweak it a little gayer, lesbian-er, or transgender-er. I find that offensive to me or any artist whose self-expression is compromised in order to get GLAAD's agenda out to the public.
When an organization asks us to be tolerant, they ought to practice what they preach. Of course A&E has the right to suspend or fire Robertson, just like we have the right to not tune in or to boycott their advertisers. But A&E was wrong, except there is the possibility that they did this on purpose to promote their Duck Dynasty Marathon.
Now that's something I can boycott just to make a point. As much as I like the show, I would do it for my beliefs.
