Mitt Romney addressed the NAACP today. The applause he received was about as enthusiastic as a kid going to the dentist. When he spoke about jobs, he got mild applause, but when mentioning ObamaCare, he actually got booed when he said he would end it. The problem with the speech wasn't so much about what he said, but of how he said it. Mitt is clearly no Obama.
Mitt is a bright guy, a successful businessman, and a decent person who never snorted cocaine or proudly smoked pot, like his opponent. But he lacks passion in his voice and is a poor actor. Obama can do both--when he speaks to whites you hear the Harvard professor in his voice; when he speaks to blacks, he's just another home boy who can shoot a three-pointer (after a bunch of "takes") and he can pretend he's one of them. It doesn't matter that Obama's policies have made the economy worse, put more blacks on the unemployment lines, and created a world image that America is a weak nation led by a weak president who has a poor grasp on international diplomacy and a dislike for our allies, like Israel. They will vote for Obama because he is black, and for no other reason. And if that isn't racism, I don't know what racism is.
Of course, not all blacks are racists, and not all blacks are Democrats, but blacks who are conservatives are ostracised at best, hated and attacked at worst. It bothers liberals to no end that intelligent blacks like Allen West, refuse to sheep it out with them and be an Obama zombie. Blacks see people like West as traitors to their ideals. You have to give credit to the Democrats to have the ability of painting their party as the party for blacks when history proves otherwise. But I've said it before, since when have liberals allowed facts to get in the way of their beliefs?
Remember, it was Al Gore Sr. who filibustered for 74 hours in 1964 against the Civil Rights Act and proposed an amendment to the Act that would have kept federal funding to schools that defied court desegregation orders. It was defeated by a vote of 74 to 25. Twenty-three Democrats and 1 Republican voted for the amendment.
