As the scourge of COVID-19 winds down and the pandemic eviction moratoriums end across the nation, about 3,800,000 renters say that they are likely slated to be evicted from the apartments they have been living in rent-free since the China virus began to spread.
Approximately 8,500,000 people will be behind in their rent obligation as of the end of this month, according to Census Bureau data.
In June, rents rose above $2,000/month for the first time ever, and evictions are spiking in major US cities. Now that eviction moratoriums ending, tenants who've had a free ride on the backs of landlords, are finding themselves in tough times.
In another example, a couple purchased a house last summer in nearby Carson, California. Months later, they still could not move in as a tenant from the previous owner refused to leave. This is a fine example of how government interference screws up everything.
The stories go on and on.

Finally, in New York's trendy West Village, a woman lived in an apartment for over three years. Her landlord, who was also her roommate, was unable to evict her until this week. The squatter was locked out of the apartment but wanted to return to get her stuff--too bad, she was locked out finally.
