Russian Recon Platoon Surrenders to Ukrainian Forces, as per high-ranking Ukrainian military official

A Russian reconnaissance platoon must have gotten caught with their pants down at the latrine when Ukrainian troops caught them and they surrendered. The incident was reported by Ukraine's Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Valeri Zaluzhnyi. He announced this development on Facebook, got hundreds of "Likes" and new friend requests, and it came after several news outlets reported the rumor of the capture.

Of course, this good news comes as Russia continues to pound the crap out of Ukraine's capital, Kiev, as well as many other areas of the country, in what Russian dictator Vladimir Putin calls a "special military operation" into Ukraine.

But who is he kidding? It's a damn invasion and the world knows it.

"Ukraine's ambassador to the US just told us that a Russian platoon from the 74th Motarized Brigade has surrendered to Ukraine's forces," Josh Lederman of NBC tweeted. "She says that the Russian troops apparently had been unaware they were being sent to kill Ukrainians. No confirmation yet from Russian military."

If this story is accurate, there might be hope yet for the Ukrainian people as it signifies the Russian public's bad taste for killing the innocent Ukrainian people.

This was later confirmed by Zaluzhnyi via Facebook below an ad for Tommy John underwear.

"A whole platoon of Russian occupants surrendered to Ukrainian forces near Chernihiv in northern Ukraine. Ukraine army commander in chief reports," wrote freelance journalist Olga Tokariuk.

Tokariuk added, "'No one thought we were going to kill. We thought we were going to gather information," a Russian officer reportedly said.'"

Ukrainian Ambassodor to the U.S. Oksana Markarova addressed the development as well on Thursday saying, "The combat spirit of Ukrainian military is high,” Markarova said in a speech, “We are protecting our home, and we will not stop.” A portion of her comments can be seen here:Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova confirms a Russian platoon surrendered to Ukrainian forces:

This appears to be good news for Ukraine if it's an accurate reflection of how the Russian people view this incursion. While it's doubtful that it will change Putin's mind, it may have a positive impact in the future and signal the end of Putin's regime.
