Russia invades Ukraine, declares war

As predicted, Russian President/dictator Vladimir Putin has declared war on Russia late last night ET and there have been massive airstrikes in the capital city of Kiev [sometimes spelled Kyiv].

Putin has threatened that if anyone intervenes to help Ukraine, there will be hell to pay like the world has never seen before, and this sounds like a veiled threat of a nuclear response.

Our so-called President Biden did not speak to the American public last night when the war started, but he is scheduled to do so at 1:30 p.m. ET. He will have a lot to read and we will see if he actually takes questions and if so, will he take them from Fox News or other non-legacy press outlets. My money is on "no."

The incremental sanctions the Biden administration proposed to be used, should Putin invade, is a hair-brained idea that makes as much sense as a Joe Biden off-the-cuff discussion of the current global situation.

Had the sanctions been non-incremental, but had real teeth to promote shock and awe, perhaps Putin would have thought twice, but probably not. But to impose them incrementally is to show Russia and China that we are a paper tiger and our leader, a brain-addled old codger who has acted tough all his lying life, but is as full of it as a farmer's manure spreader.

The thing we need to be concerned over is the geographical proximity Ukraine is to Poland and our other NATO allies. Should Putin be willing to invade in any of our allies in the region, we are committed to defend them as per the NATO agreement. And that would mean all out war between two nuclear weapons nations.

G_d save us from that fate.
