Alleged IAF airstrike cratered Damascus Int'l Airport runway to cut off terrorists' supply

There seems to be a recent increase in Israeli airstrikes as the Jewish state tries to prevent a buildup in weaponry slated to supply to terrorist groups that would like to see Israel annihilated. Although information is limited, satellite imagery released by a US satellite imaging firm reveals what appears to be cratering damage at Syria's Damascus International Airport, apparently resulting from Israeli airstrikes on December 16th.

Unconfirmed reports allege that cruise missiles were launched by Israeli Air Force [IAF] jets and some may be responsible for damaging the runway at the airport in order to prevent supplies to be flown in which support Iranian militia and the terrorist nation's affiliates operating in Syria and Lebanon. Of course, this includes Hezbollah, and has also come under repeated Israeli attack.

As is typical for these types of instances, Russian sources state that Syrian-operated, Russian-supplied Pantsir-S1 air defense systems shot down seven of the eight missiles launched on Thursday. However, a satellite image provided by Capella Space and shared on Twitter by Aurora Intel apparently confirms three impact craters about 2,000 apart along the runway. If the missiles were indeed responsible for the runway damage at Damascus International then it’s clear that these Russian claims, is complete balderdash propaganda.

Deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, Rear Adm. Vadim Kulit [pronounced "Cool it"] quoted by Russian state media sources, the Israeli airstrike yesterday resulted in damage to a warehouse and killed one soldier.

“On December 16, from 1:51 to 1:59, four Israeli Air Force F-16 tactical fighters from the airspace over the Golan Heights struck with eight cruise missiles at targets near the Damascus International Airport,” Kulit said in Russian at a briefing.

The insane Syrian state news agency SANA cited an unnamed military source [possibly obtained from Brian Stelter's reliable sources] saying, “the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression,” adding that the Israeli missiles were fired from airspace over the Golan Heights. The agency parroted the claim that Syrian air defenses intercepted and destroyed “most” of the cruise missiles, but if you believe this, you might also believe that snakes have hips.

As of this posting, the southern part of Damascus International Airport is closed to airline traffic as it repairs the cruise missile craters they deny. But the reason why this particular runway was targeted is unclear as the other runway is still active and reportedly being used to accommodate flights bringing in material targeted to support Iranian military in order to destroy Israel.

Damascus International has been a target for repeated Israeli airstrikes over the years, due to it having been used by Iran for weapons transfers and other support for its proxies operating in Syria and beyond. The area around the southern portion of the airport, where the missiles allegedly hit, is where Iranian operations are most active and have borne the brunt of Israeli airstrikes on the airfield in the past.

Israeli officials have so far not commented on yesterday’s apparent raid. Their policy of ambiguity regarding airstrikes remains in place. However, Israel has historically expressed grave concern about deployments of Iran-backed terrorist forces in Syria, including Hezbollah and other militias and have conducted airstrikes for self-defense purposes, destroying weapons depots in the process.

Israel has made it clear on numerous occasions that it views Tehran’s growing influence in the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon and Syria, as an existential threat against which it will take action at will.

Never again.
