A person of interest in the shooting

Three bystanders were shot Saturday at Times Square in Manhattan, NY by a man who had been arguing with three other people pulled out a handgun and began shooting into the crowd, the NYPD reported. One of the victims hit by gunfire is a toddler.

The incident erupted at 4:55 p.m. in front of 1515 Broadway at West 44th Street. Four men were involved in a dispute when one of them pulled out a gun and began firing, striking 3 people, none of whom are related.

Among the victims is a 23-year-old woman who was struck in the right thigh; a 43-year-old woman who was struck in the left foot; and a 4-year-old girl who took a bullet in her left leg.

The child is from Brooklyn and the adults are from Rhode Island and New Jersey, sources said.

Police, as is customary, were in the area and rendered aid immediately.

The shooter may have fled on public transit, a senior law enforcement source said.
