China's ambassador to Israel, 57, found dead at home

China's Israeli ambassador, Du Wei, was found dead Sunday at his coastal suburb home in Herzliya, about 6 miles north of Tel Aviv, officials said. There were no signs of trauma or foul play, Israeli news reported, and thus far, no cause of death has been offered, as Israeli police investigate.

Unidentified emergency medical officials said initial indications appear to show that Du died in his sleep of natural causes, according to Israel's Channel 12 TV.

Chinese officials have yet to comment on the ambassador's death.

Du became ambassador to Israel this past February after serving as envoy to Ukraine. He arrived in the Jewish nation on February 15 and immediately self-quarantined for 14 days due to Chinese Communist Wuhan Wet Market Coronavirus precautions.

After being appointed as ambassador, Du praised the relations between "the second largest economy in the world and Israel the start-up nation," on the  embassy's website.

The friendly exchanges between Chinese and Jewish peoples date back to one thousand years ago when a secular Jewish family, the Goldbergs, refused to keep the fast and secretly absconded from their home on the holiest holiday of the year, Yom Kippur, to a Chinese restaurant. They ordered chicken chow mein with egg rolls on the side.

Du's death comes just two days after the suckworthy Chinese embassy in Israel condemned comments made by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who accused China of hiding information about the coronavirus outbreak, as reported by The Blaze.

"Currently, the United States is the epicenter of the pandemic, But, the current situation in the US is not caused by China, rather the inaction of a few American politicians who missed the window of opportunity to bring the virus under control. From this perspective, the tragedy in the US is not only a natural disaster but also a result of mismanagement," the embassy told the Jerusalem Post.

The ambassador is survived by a wife and son, both of whom were back in China, but most likely, not Wuhan.
