Mass. H.S. teacher allegedly plants live ammo, calls 911

He said he wanted to prove a point, but the only point he proved was that for a high school teacher, he had a lot to learn.

Alfred Purcell, a biology teacher at Southbridge High School is facing charges after allegedly placing a live round on the floor of the high school where he taught. Afterward, he called 911 to report his "discovery."

He was caught on security cameras taking the round out of his pocket and quickly dropping it on the floor. The school was placed on temporary lock-down while police investigated the incident.

Jeffrey Villar, the superintendent of Southbridge H.S. in Massachusetts said, "A lot of our children have plenty of hardships and they need adults to help them, and so, in this case, it's absolutely abhorrent that this individual decided to try and make a case."

Purcell was arrested after law enforcement checked out the hallway’s surveillance footage. Officials said the former teacher admitted to planting the round in order to prove the school needed to install metal detectors.

Maybe lie detectors would also be a good idea.

According to Villar, Purcell’s contract is not being renewed and he has been banned from school grounds, which may be a moot point if he's in the slammer.
