U.S. Attorney General William Barr made it clear at today's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that he is "reviewing" whether the Hillary Clinton inspired Steele dossier was part of a Russian disinformation campaign. Several "journalists" clutched their pearls and Patrick Leahy (D-VT) may have had an incontinence episode upon hearing the news.
Barr was questioned over the origins of the opposition research file compiled on then-candidate Trump by foreign spy Christopher Steele, a former MS-6 agent.
“Can we state with confidence that the Steele dossier was not part of the Russian disinformation campaign?” asked Senator John Cornyn (R-TX).
“No, I can’t state that with confidence and that is one of the areas that I’m reviewing. I’m concerned about it, and I don’t think it’s entirely speculative,” Barr replied, suggesting that there will be more to follow.
