Trump Twitter-bashes LeBron and Lemon over CNN interview

CNN's Don Lemon interviewed NBA player LeBron James and President Trump weighed in after the basketballer said that Trump was using sports to divide the country.

"LeBron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do. I like Mike!" Trump tweeted, apparently referring to his preference for Michael Jordan, a former basketball player with greater athletic ability than James.

Jordon retired from basketball in 2003.

During the Lemon-James interview, the couple toured "I Promise," a school for at-risk kids that James established in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. They discussed sports, politics and race relations, a topic that they knew so little about.

The President watched the show and took issue with some of the comments made by James.

At one point, James told Lemon he believes Trump is using sports to divide people, while James thinks sports has "always been something that brings people together."

Lemon then asked James if he would consider running for president, something that many people in the entertainment industry are considering, James eventually said, "Let's see first."

In terms of dividing people, CNN had previously aired a segment in which James was asked if he would sit down with President Trump, who James once called a "bum" for disinviting Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry from the White House.

"I would never sit across from him," James said, sounding as divisive as he claims Trump to be.
