Texas 'honor-killer' found guilty!

A double-murder honor killing trial in Texas, [not Afghanistan or Pakistan, as you may have thought] has finally come to an end. A Texas man was found guilty of killing  his son-in-law, Coty Beavers, and his daughter's best friend, Gelareh Bagherzadeh, in 2012.

Jordanian-American Ali Mahwood-Awad Irsan, 60, was originally planning on killing five people, including his own daughter.

One of Irsan's two wives [which is illegal in the U.S., but apparently the law looks the other way in certain cases] Shmou Ali Alrawabdeh, 40, is alleged to have helped him carry out the murders.

Irsan married Shmou in Jordan when she was all of 15-years-old and he was 35. Between his two wives, Irsan has 12 children. But Alrawabdeh testified against her husband and got a deal.

The prosecution alleged Irsan murdered the pair because he was angry his own daughter, Nesreen, wanted to marry Beavers, who was a non-Muslim.

The prosecution also alleged that Irsan was also planning on killing Nesreen but being a caring father who put his daughter's needs above his own, wanted her to suffer first and so he killed Beavers and her friend.

In 2014, Irsan and Shmou were arrested and daughter, Nadia Irsan, then 30 and a U.S. citizen. They were charged federally with conspiracy to defraud the government, theft of public money and benefits fraud. This investigation also led to charges against Ali Irsan for murder in a state district court.
