A woman who is said to have shouted "Allahu akbar" ["Allah is greater"] attacked two people, a customer and employee, with a box cutter at a supermarket in southern France on Sunday. She was taken into police custody and arrested.
The jihad began around 10:30 a.m. at the Leclere supermarket in the city of La Seyne-sur-Mer in the Mediterranean near Marseilles.
The attacker was dressed in black a wore a hijab at the time of her jihad before she was stopped and controlled by people intervening.
Europe 1 radio quoted Toulon prosecutor Bernard Marchals as saying that a customer in the store was injured in the chest and hospitalized.
A woman at the market's cash register was also injured by less seriously.
Marchal said the suspect may have mental health problems, because he didn't want to accuse her of following the religious precepts of Islam, specifically, going on a jihad. She has not been identified as police search her home.
Sticking his head in the proverbial sand, Marchal told Le Monde newspaper that "It's apparently an isolated case involving a person with psychiatric issues."
He did manage to gather up enough courage to not exclude the very tiny, miniscule, eensy-beensy possibility that maybe, perhaps the woman was a radical Muslim. "There is a presumption of attempted murder and ... of a crime with terrorist implications."
Gee, ya think?
France has been on edge since a series of killings in the name of the Islamic State occurred in 2015. To make matters worse, hundreds of jihadis are returning from the Iraq-Syria war zone as ISIS is getting their collective butts kicked.
This past March, an hours-long attack and hostage situation in a supermarket near Carcassonne left four kaffir dead. In May, a man attacked strangers near the Paris Opera house, killing one and injuring four, an action claimed by ISIS.
But let's not call it a result of religion. Let's pretend it's about mental health issues.
