You know the old saying: "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging." Tell that to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (aka Warren Wilhelm Jr.). He doesn't know when to quit. But after all, he is a socialist and they still haven't learned from their failures of the past.

DNAinfo.com reports that while de Blasio was trying to get the NYPD union presidents to meet with him, he had his aides calling lawmakers and asking them to badmouth Patrick Lynch, PBA President, and the rank and file officers who turned their back on de Blasio's public address following the execution-style murders of two NYPD officers as they sat in their car.
So the two-faced mayor was speaking with police union leaders to prepare Tuesday's peace talks to mend their current deteriorated relationship, and while this was taking place, he had his people cold-calling the city's Democratic delegation of New York officials in state and city government asking them to pubicly criticize Lynch and the officers who expressed their anger at him by literally turning their back on the Jumbotron that projected de Blasio's eulogy outside of the church where Officer Ramos' funeral was taking place.
Where I come from, this is called sneaky, cowardly behavior. If I had a son, I would tell him to be careful living in a city where the mayor of that city turns his back on his or her own police force. That mayor should expect the same in spades.
One lawmaker told DNAinfo.com that there was an expectation that they should be in lockstep with de Blasio because he called them, "that we should do whatever they ask," the lawmaker said.
Another lawmaker said he didn't feel pressured to speak out but thinks it "really inappropriate" to be asked to do this, even if he didn't agree with the police in this situation.
To their credit, most of the lawmakers didn't follow the mayor's request.
De Blasio's cronies said that this had nothing to do with politics, which, of course means that it has everything to do with politics. They're politicians. It's all about image and image is all about politics.
The funniest part in all this is that de Blasio's people were freaked out as they tried to discover if protests were being planned for Monday's police graduation as Madison Square Garden. There were none and the mayor was able to mop the sweat from his brow and get a nice change of skivvies. But when he spoke there, some boos were heard, but they were short-lived.
No cadet turned their back on the mayor, but that's because they're too new to take that risk.
DNAinfor.com said that de Blasio's office contacted them and confirmed that his aides did cold-call city Democrats, however, they insisted that the "did not ask elected officials to 'attack' anyone," and asked them to "support the families" of the dead cops instead. So that means the lawmakers who said that they were told otherwise were lying.
One lawmaker who was told what de Blasio's office told DNAinfo.com said it was "preposterous" and "not reality."
So who's lying? Who has more to lose, anonymous lawmakers or de Blasio?
The hole keeps getting deeper.
