Martin Bashir, that lovable, cuddly, and trendy, British "journalist" has decided to call it quits from MSNBC since suggesting almost three weeks ago, that someone should defecate in Sarah Palin's mouth. He also called her an idiot on that broadcast, as well as others. I wonder why he's resigning--he's just being his old, liberal self.
Bashir issued a statement to Mediate via email that read:
"After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday.
Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the President of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation. It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues, at this special network, will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments.
I deeply regret what was said, will endeavor to work hard at making constructive contributions in the future, and will always have a deep appreciation for our viewers--who are the smartest, most compassionate and discerning of all television audiences. I would also wish to express deepest gratitude to my immediate colleagues, and our contributers, (sic) all of whom have given so much of themselves to our broadcast."
Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC later issued the following statement:
"Martin Bashir resigned today, effective immediately. I understand his decision and I thank him for three great years with msnbc. Martin is a good man and respected colleague--we wish him only the best."
Calling MSNBC viewers the "smartest, most compassionate and discerning of all television audiences" is possibly the funniest thing Martin Bashir has ever said. Smartest people use facts over feelings when making decisions; liberals do not. Compassionate people give more money to charities and do not accuse the entire conservative America as being racist, liberals give less money than conservatives, and they play the race card in spite of their poor history around slavery and racism. Discerning people actually use more than one source of information from which to actually discern which source is the more accurate. MSNBC doesn't come close to being fair and balanced in their reporting. Sure, Fox News leans right of center, but MSNBC doesn't have a center from which to lean. Fox, at least, presents both sides of the aisle. (See Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, and Lawrence O'Donnell.)
Martin Bashir trended on Twitter today. Most people were clear that he will not be missed. Some feel he should consider returning to his home country and take Alec Baldwin with him where they can live in liberal bliss. What seems obvious is that Griffin had to make him go after waiting to see the public reaction. MSNBC, like Obama, makes decisions based on polls, rather than ethics.
Bashir should change the last letter of his name to the 20th letter of the alphabet.

My latest novel, Jihad
Joe, is about Islamic
terrorism and suspense. In it I challenge the precepts of the religion
through my protagonist, Zed Nill, a journalist, captured by terrorists and who
is destined to be killed if the American President refuses to release three
Gitmo prisoners. Of course, American policy demands we never give in to
terrorists, and for Zed, the clock is ticking.
