Not-so bright USWNT Lindsey Horan says American fans "aren't smart" now sorry

U.S. women's soccer ball kicker Lindsey Horan pissed off a lot of people recently when she made a dumb statement saying that American soccer fans "aren't smart" and don't understand the game.

Horan never realized at the time, that Americans are generally not interested in the soccer mainly because it's rarely broadcasted on mainstream tv because it doesn't allow time for commercial breaks. The clock always runs until half-time. There are more people on the roof of a busy Indian train than go to soccer games.

Americans love sports, but soccer is not one of our main pastimes. Baseball, football, basketball, hockey and even tennis have bigger viewerships. But soccer is boring to the Americans so why should we know the rules of the game?

Now Horan is sorry she made her stupid remarks and is walking it back.

Horan issued an apology to reporters Thursday ahead of the first CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup slated to begin next week, as if anyone cares.

"First and foremost, I would like to apologize to our fan[s]," the 29-year-old sub-genius said on ESPN. "Some of my comments were poorly expressed, and there was a massive lesson learned for me."

Hopefully the lesson she learned is that she isn't that bright and should think of what she's about to say and then not say it.

"When I think about our fan, I love her so much. This team loves her so much, and I can't begin to explain how much she means to us. Every time we step out and train, every time we step out and play in games, we play for her, and she is our inspiration, she is our motivation, and seeing her wearing our jerseys and seeing her screaming our names and chanting 'USA,' that's what we play for."

She does not love her fan. That is a lie. She doesn't know her by name, her hopes, her dreams, or what she's really screaming at the games.

She continued, "And I never wanted to take any of that away. And continuing on that, the soccer culture in America is changing and growing so much in such a positive way."

Especially for the pink hair community.
