If you want to correct the title of this post, feel free--I wrote the malapropism on purpose and glad you noticed it.
The Virginia teachers union, however, didn't notice their [as opposed to "there"] grammatical blunders, yet these are the people who supposedly [as opposed to supposably] are paid to educate our children. The union sent out a letter to parents calling for more protection from the frightening coronavirus. The letter sounds as if it was written by a person whose English is a second language and was trying to impress the reader with their erudition.
Of course, the letter has gone viral on Twitter where users had a field day either making corrections or making fun of the person or persons who wrote the damn thing. One Arlington parent, whose Twitter handle is @ellenfgallery, spotted 20 grammatical screwups and tweeted:
“Hey @VEA4Kids, are you going to send out more of these grammar worksheets over break?” the poster quipped derisively. “My kids and I had a great time spotting errors! Did we find them all?”The letter was sent to Arlington Schools Superintendent Dr. Francisco Duran. It addresses the recent spread of the no good very scary virus and argues for a delayed restarting of classes in January to deal with the fear of death--maybe a bit less dramatic, I admit.
The document also discusses the fear that indoor lunches in the middle of this surge will promote death and destruction as it creates "super-spreader" events.
It goes on to say, rather ungrammatically, that teachers are having to make the "ultimate sacrifice" as Omicron cases with their mild to unnoticeable symptoms multiply, divide, and subtract members of the population.
The original opening sentence read:
“The fire departments in are region are exemplifying domino outbreaks as well.” the letter said.
The original opening sentence read:
“On behalf of the members of the Arlington Education Association, this dire expression lends great concerns for Arlington Public Schools return plans for January 3rd, 2022.”
No, Joe Biden did not write this but it's understandable if you thought he did.
Another malapropism in the letter is the use of the word "are" for "our."

This is just one of many examples why a thorough education is impotent.
