The carjacking suspect was shot and killed after he exchanged fire with police Sunday afternoon.
According to local police, officer first encountered the suspect driving a vehicle with stolen plates. The cops were notified that the same man had been involved in an armed highjacking.
Officers chased the stolen vehicle, and around 3 p.m., the suspect reportedly fired multiple rounds at the police before crashing the vehicle on Highway 13 near Interstate 35W. He continued to shoot at the officers who fired back and struck the suspect.
The suspect was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. No police officers were hurt in the gunfire exchange.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has sent agents to the crime scene and is leading the investigation. The Burnsville police wear body cameras and the data from them will be handled during the BCA's investigation as the officers were placed on administrative leave as is standard.
The suspect who was shot and killed is white, so don't expect this story to be featured on the Compromised News Network or MSNBC.
