An Alabama POS convicted of sexually abusing five underage girls was sentenced Wednesday to 615 years in prison--that's 613.5 years more than Jeffrey Epstein was nailed with when he was convicted of multiple sex crimes. Epstein was hit with 18 months, and was able to leave prison 6 days a week to go to work, and then served only 13 months.
Houston County Circuit Judge Todd Derrick handed Raven Smith a 615-year sentence for sexually abusing five underage girls.
But because Smith is far from being a billionaire, he gets to spend the rest of his life behind bars, where he belongs, while people with money and fame, like Epstein and Roman Polanski are treated differently.
The judge imposed the sentence on Smith after hearing a plea from the mother of one of the girls.
“I can’t believe what I said meant that much to a judge to punish this man the way I wanted him to be [punished]," the unidentified mother told WTVY-TV.
The sentenced on Smith, 35, was handed down on Wednesday. He admitted tot he sex crimes against the girls--all under the age of 16--and apologized to them in court. There were multiple counts of sodomy, sexual abuse and rape, so the apologies didn't work very well, unless Smith is related to Methuselah and lives out his prison term.
District Attorney J.T. Jones almost teared up while describing Smith's crimes to the judge.
“When you deal with cases that involve children, particularly young children, it’s going to hit your heartstrings every time," Jones said. "You get to know them [the victims] and you feel the pain they go through."
The mother who made the heartfelt plea said she believes there are other victims of this human piece of garbage who are too afraid to come forward.
“I don't want them to be afraid anymore," she said. "I want them to know he's in jail and can't ever hurt them or anyone else."
Child molesters tend not to do very well in prison.
