Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: We must honor states that kill black unborn babies

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar used to be a great basketball player. He could dribble and shoot and slam-dunk like nobody else. He also used to be a somewhat "normal liberal" to the extent that liberals can actually be normal. But now he has gone over to the dark side.

Abdul-Jabbar is calling for Americans to support the slaughter of babies, especially black, undocumented American babies right up to the moment of delivery from the birth canal, as if passing through that opening is what makes them officially human.

The former basketball player wants Americans to boycott states such as Georgia and Alabama for passing laws prohibiting the killing of babies whose heartbeats can be detected audibly.

He may have been a good basketball player, but he needs some work at being a moral human being.

In an op-ed for The Hollywood Reporter, Abdul-Jabbar argues that new laws in states like Alabama or Georgia are a throwback to times where "pretty much everyone who wasn’t a straight, white Christian male was considered a second-class citizen whose rights and future depended on the patriarchs’ whims and largesse."

He fails to see the irony of who mostly becomes the victims of infanticide in the womb--for example, more black babies are aborted in New York City than are permitted to be born there. He also fails to acknowledge the fact that Planned Parenthood was founded by a racist eugenicist, Margaret Sanger.

Somehow, in Abdul-Jabbar's worldview, the people trying to encourage more black babies to be born are the racist ones.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar goes on to blame the anti-abortion laws in those states on the Trump administration, which he says has returned entitled whites to "their rapidly eroding privileged status."

Except when it comes down to an observable analysis, rather than Trump Derangement Syndrome, it's Abdul-Jabbar who's the racist against his own people.

"Right now the stains include Georgia, Alabama, Missouri and other states passing restrictive abortion legislation that reduces women to baby incubators," writes the former tall basketball player. "The time has come for Americans to defend the principles of the Constitution ... For now, one of the best ways to do that is through boycotting the offending states."

So defending the Constitution means that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness doesn't include babies, those human beings who cannot speak up for themselves and somehow because they haven't passed through the birth canal. They have no rights because . . . why?

Abdul-Jabbar tried to compare the boycott to civil rights activist Rosa Parks, who refused to sit in the back of the bus for Jim Crow. There is no comparison and if Parks was alive today, I believe she might agree that black babies in the womb have the rights she was fighting for, not the deaths Abdul-Jabbar welcomes.

And why aren't Democratic women telling him to shut the hell up? After all, he's a man and shouldn't have a say in the matter, to use their terms--he should keep his opinions to himself as they see it.

It's only when leftists agree with them that gender doesn't matter.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that Abdul-Jabbar had to, in the past, call for abortion for his personal convenience.

Lucky for him that he has already been born.
