And the Darwin award goes to ...

Bangkok -- A low information French tourist was unaware that crocodiles can be dangerous. She likely never saw the old "Peter Pan" flick with the song 'Never Smile at a Crocodile.' The song clearly says "No, you can't get friendly with a crocodile."

But did this French tourist care?

The woman tried to have her picture taken with a crocodile in Thailand but she got too close to the lizard-brain creature and it snapped at her, severely wounding her leg.

The woman, who lived thus far to make it to her 40s, suffered the bite Sunday at the Khao Yai National Park, Thanya Netithammakul, head of the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department said.

She had squatted next to the crocodile, posed for a photo, but tipped over and the animal snapped.

The lunacy happened in the Haew Suwat waterfall area where the woman was later planning to dive into the water below while having the dive captured on video.

There are signs warning visitors about the crocodiles and tourists are told to keep to the nature trails, but evidently the woman didn't heed the warnings.

She is expected to make a full recovery and plans to take that waterfall dive come hell or high water.

Speaking of which, the water below is home to dozens of crocodiles.
