Sanchez Caught Peeing in the Potable Water

Martin Sanchez, a maintenance planner for the Public Utilities  Commission in the San Francisco area faces suspension without pay (for a whopping 5 days) for peeing in the drinking water at the Priest Reservoir near Sonora, California, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. This heinous act was committed on January 6th of this year.

This reservoir supplies what is now yellow drinking water for the Bay area. Just kidding--it was just a drop in the bucket and the water in the reservoir is allegedly potable.

Sanchez, always the one for shenanigans, makes $111,000 a year, which probably means that he is highly overpaid.

Tyrone Jue told the Chronicle that the 674 million-gallon reservoir had been drained and Sanchez was determined to turn that around, no matter what. Okay, he didn't really determine to turn anything around, he just emptied his bladder in the reservoir.

Officials stated that public health wasn't in danger, adding, that if some religious Muslims can drink camel urine as prescribed in the Koran by Mohammed, then a little bit of pee can't hurt.

According to anonymous complaints to H2O officials received by the Chronicle, this was not Sanchez's first time, nor his second, in which he peed in the Bay area's drinking water.

Predictably, Sanchez was up for a big promotion before getting caught with his fly open, the Associated Press reported.

San Francisco's water comes primarily from Sierra Nevada runoff.

In Portland, OR, a 19-year-old man was cited for peeing in public and trespassing after being accused of tinkling in a 35-million-gallon city reservoir. Disgusted officials then began dumping water into the sewer system, killing scores of sewer alligators, but it became difficult to continue as rain slowed the process and the water was then diverted to an empty reservoir and used for nondrinking purposes.

Covert reservoir peeing has become an issue for Portland as the reservoir had to be emptied twice in less than three years for the same reason. The community is considering installing pay toilets along the perimeters of their reservoirs with warning signs and "dummy" cameras to discourage this act.
